Letters Versus Emails

Hi Everyone,

First, I must apologize for not posting a new blog last Sunday.  Long story short, we had trouble with our washer and had to get a new one before company came this weekend, and then we had trouble getting it.

Next, I want to wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend as we remember our loved ones and our military that have past on.   I know we'll be visiting our cemeteries this weekend to place flowers on the graves of our family members.

I want to talk about letters versus email.  When I was a kid I was taught to write thank you notes to everyone who did or gave me anything.  At a later age, I started writing letters to friends and family who were not nearby, and I wrote to guys in the military.

All these people told me I wrote the best letters because I entertained them.  I tried not to write boring stuff even when I was writing about day to day life.  I made my letters sound like stories, and I loved to write them.

Emails are fast and some of my friends can make them wordy (sorry, Beppie, I just had to say it) and very entertaining.  Most are brief and to the point.  I don't even like writing an email, but I do.  I don't like talking on the telephone either.  Grin!

I always saved important letters, birthday cards and other special cards from friends and family.  I need to empty a few drawers.  lol  To me a real letter is much more personal than an email.

Do you prefer letters or an email you can just delete?

See you next Sunday!

It depends on the person and where they live. I like both letters and emails. I prefer sending emails, though, in most cases.

Thanks, Laura. I hardly ever keep an email because they aren't personal enough. If I get a lovely card and someone writes something sweet in it, I'll keep it.

I love it when someone takes the time to send me a letter or a card. Makes me feel special. : )

Me, too, Anne. I got a very special birthday card from my sister that I will keep. Some day the family will go through all my cards and throw them out. lol Hopefully, they'll read them first.

I don't send cards to anyone for anything. I'll show up or call. and then I email for everything. I guess I'm a curmudgeon Sandy but I'm so busy that I don't have time to run out and buy cards. I tell everyone that's my truth and so it is. LOL

LOL Louise, I used to write long letters in my cards, but now only a short note. Thanks for coming by.
