Do You Have A Dream?

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day.  His words, 'I have a dream' have gone down in history and will always be remembered.  Those words apply to all of us.  Everyone should have dreams and some of them should be fulfilled.

When I was a kid, I thought I wanted to be a spy until I read about some of the things they did to spies.  I wasn't into torture like having your fingernails, eyelids and worse removed.  I dreamed of traveling, and I lucked out in getting a job with an airline so that dream came true.

I thought horses were wonderful, and I eventually got one of my own.  Although, I gave him up a few years later when my hubby gave me a choice of him or the horse.  He was afraid I was going to get hurt, and he didn't want to be married to a vegetable.

I loved reading, and I thought I might be able to write.  Hubby wanted me to try.  In fact, it really was his idea, but I began to dream of becoming an author, and I made it.  Now, I have a dream of writing a classic that will be remembered through the ages.  Making the New York Times top ten list is not enough for me.  Smile.

What is your dream?  If you have one, go for it.  You won't make every dream come true, but more of them will be fulfilled if you try.

Have a great week.  See you next Sunday.

Best always,
Sandra K. Marshall

Great blog and dreams do keep us focused. Mine is to land my first contract. I would love to see my Book title in print. So back to the edit board and strive to make my dream come true. :}

Good question. With more years in the rearview than in front, I have accomplished most things I have set out to achieve over the years. Other things I'd dreamed about don't interest me as much anymore. It seems I need to come up with a new set of dreams.

Thanks for the thought provoking question, Sandy. Hope to see you next weekend.

Best of luck to you, Lynda. You'll get there.

LOL K.T., you're too much.

Yes, you are, Stacey. Good for you.

Derek, our dreams change. I liked your answer. I'll see you at the meeting.

It's sort of like a Bucket List, isn't it...the Dream...something you would love to do before...well, you know.
Mine? I want to see one of my books in hardback on all library shelves across the country. Even though every novel, novells, short, or anthology I have can be found on Amazon for the Kindle..and the Nook and the Sony Reader.
But I'm still a library person, and always will be, I suppose. Plus, I believe the print book will make a huge comeback when readers realize it's more fun to hold a print book than a piece of electronic equipment. It just is not the same.
And so,..that is My Dream.
Good question!

At my age, I have to be careful here, Sandy. Don't want to assume I'm going to be around forever. LOL
Actually, many of my dreams have been realized, and I'm indeed a fortunate man to be able to say that. I do have one left, though. My writing has taken a major turn and I'd like to be able to get the full series of my new mysteries written.
I just finished content edits on TOCCATA, first of my St. Louis Blues mysteries, due to be released in April. I'm nearly done with #2 and have #3 in mind.
I have a couple of books in the library now, and hope to have more of them there in the near future. As I said, I'm a lucky man. Now if my luck will only hold a bit longer...
That's my dream.
Cheers,
PD

You're welcome, Louise. I have to keep reminding myself, too.

Good dream, Celia. I'm sure you'll make it one day.

I have all the faith in the world you'll do it, Anne.

Dale, I totally understand as we're probably about the same age. The series sounds great.

My dream was to be a teacher...I think I decided on that in first grade!
I taught for years, then my new dream was to write...and that's what I'm doing!
Nice post, Sandy!

I have always dreamed of being a writer--but life just got in the way. I started my first book in my 20s and finished it in my 40s. That says it all. In between I got married, had a beautiful daughter, volunteered, taught bible classes (yes me which surprises many) and sang in a choir. I am actively pursuing publication now and have a lot of good things on the horizon.

I wish you every success in achieving your dream!!

:-)

Thank you, Christine. I wish you much success, too.

I started writing in my 40's while still working full time, and I was published in my 60's.
