There Are No Safe Places

Everyone is looking for safety, but today there is no such thing.  When a person can fall into a sinkhole and die, be killed in a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, Tsunami, fires, floods, you know there's no safety.  These are only a few environmental events for there are sure to be more I have missed.

When you throw in manmade castastrophes like war, terrorists, bombs, guns, knives, anger, ideologies, hatred and many more.  You know there's not any safe place on this planet.

You cannot protect yourself by carrying a weapon, digging a home underground, moving to the country, living in another country, or by staying at home.  You have to live your life for however long it is.

We cannot be afraid to do anything we want to do.  It doesn't help us to be scared.  Nothing we do will prevents events from happening if they are going to happen.

I intend to live my life to the fullest.  What are you going to do with your life?

May you enjoy a peaceful Sunday.  See you next weekend.

Best wishes,

Sandra K. Marshall

You're right, Sandy. You can't stop living because you're afraid that something "might" happen. Sure, something "might", but it also might not.

You are right on! We have to live our life because even without nature and manmade problems, health can play a huge part in when our life ends.

One day I was getting ready to go visit my mom for the holidays. The kids were getting a haircut. At that moment, her aorta ruptured and she died within moments. She was 55. I've learned early on...life doesn't have a guarantee. Live each day as it is your last.

I'm going to continue breathing till my last breath. And God decides when that will be. Don't worry, be happy :)

I still remember the fear we felt getting on an airplane in 2002. Our whole family was a bundle of nerves during the entire flight. We have to remember that tragedies are the exception not the norm. That is why they hit so hard.

R. Ann, thank you for coming by. Your sentiment is mine, too.

Melissa, you're so right about the health issues getting you, too. I almost put that in my blog, but decided I was already making everyone feel down. Smile!

Tom, The Comeback Kid, you're right He is the only one who knows.

Jill, unfortunately, the news media plays up the tragedies. We need more events that are hopeful.

Good post! Life is a risk. Period. And it's a gift not to be wasted.

I'm going to reach for the stars and if I don't make it, at least I can say I tried. ;-)

Great attitude, Jennifer, and you'll have no regrets with it.

I'm posting a comment for a friend who couldn't post.

I agree. Life is a gift, and I try to experience as much as possible. Fear will cheat you of beautiful moments and incredible opportunities if you let it.

Wendi, I'm sorry you couldn't post your comment. Blogger is really squirrely lately.

A bit late on a reply, but thought this timely, especially in view of what happened in Boston. In retrospect, we still in a safer time than our forbearers a century, and a millennia ago. When I say that, I am speaking of us here in the US. Over 70% of the world lives under an authoritarian regime, and their concept of “feeling safe” is a little different from ours. I may get nervous at times, but give thanks we live in a great country.

It's never too late to comment, dtkrippene. You're right that we live in safer place than most of the world does. Thanks for the reminder to appreciate what we have.
