Things On My Mind

Hello Folks,

Today, I'm writing about the things I have been thinking about. The first item on my mind is this week I celebrated my sixty-seventh birthday. It's something I would rather not celebrate since it only means I am getting older. When I was young time passed so slowly, but when you get my age the time starts to fly by. Many of my friends and co-workers have died; some of them older than me and others were younger. Yes, it's time to start thinking about one's mortality at my age, and if it weren't for my birth date, I wouldn't give it a thought. After all, your age is just a number, and in my mind I'm still young and able to do all the things when I was thirty. Don't I wish? Smile.

The next thing on my mind is Dory, my tortoiseshell cat. Dory has been sick all week. We took her to the vet on Tuesday because she was throwing up. It had been going on for a couple of weeks, but I had thought it was because she ate fast and didn't chew her food good. She didn't throw up all the time, just a few times a week. The vet gave her a shot, Penicillin, and some hairball medicine. Last night, she started sneezing and coughing. This little girl loves to play, but she hasn't played for a couple of days. We took her to the vet again today. The vet took x-rays and found her stomach is very full, which apparently is unusual. We were told to cut back on her food and instead of giving her hard food to give her soft food. Since, she's never liked the soft food that wasn't an option. We aren't giving her as much hard food. Also, the vet put her on Amoxicillin, since we thought she might be allergic to Penicillin. That hasn't helped the sneezing and coughing, so we may need another trip to the vet on Monday. We love this little fur ball, and we want her well.

Has anyone been watching the Casey Anthony murder trial? I seem to have become addicted to this trial. I have known lots of different kinds of liars in my life, and some even very much like Casey. However, none of them ever murdered their children or anyone else. Not to say Casey murdered her daughter because at this time Casey's only alleged to have committed the crime.

Why am I so interested in this trial? The answer is multifaceted. The little girl, Caylee Anthony, was only two years old about to turn three. Who wouldn't want justice for the little cutie. I find the dysfunction of the Anthony family fascinating. When I was young, I wanted to be a lawyer, so this could be another reason for my attention to this trial. Am I studying the participants in the trial to use as characters in a book? That is always a possibility. To be honest, I think I have become involved in watching this case for the psychological reasons. I want to know what makes people do the things they do. Why are these people like they are?

These are just a few of my thoughts this past week. I want to thank those who visit my blog every week and those who are first time visitors. Have a wonderful June month, and I'll see you next Sunday.

Have Wonderful birthday.
I am not watching thw trial but do understand the fascination with what makes a person kill, lie, or do other socially unacceptable behaviors, and can be scary. I work with the mentally ill with some of the antisocial persons thrown in.
Enjoy your birthday(s)as they only come once a year.

Thanks, Janice. Sometimes, I feel much older.

Thank you, DeanY. I had a lovely day on my birthday. We owe you a load of thanks for working with the mentally ill. I feel sad that so many of them up on the streets or in jail because the help has been taken away from them. I do not think Casey is mentally ill, and she's very social, but I do wonder if there was something in her environment that made her feel the need to lie. I'm trying to understand her.

Sixty-seven is young in our modern world. I'm going to be sixty-six on my birthday so lets hope we have lots more. We've got writing to do, girl!

On the Casey Anthony trial, I don't watch it but keep up in the news. The child was so precious. How someone could kill her is unbelievable to me.

I hope your cat is better soon. It's terrible when our babies are sick.

Please, not the Casey Anthony trial! It is all over the damn TV here in the Orlando area, on several channels, and pre-empting everything in sight. I don't want to watch it, but it's hard to avoid, especially since it's on the channel my wife is in the habit of leaving on all the time.

On a less argumentative note, I hope your cat gets better.

I admire you for sharing your age. Some women are insecure, I guess, to reveal that. I think Helen Mirren, at 60-something, is very sexy!

Sandy said...

Thanks, Linda. I hope Dory gets better soon, too. We may have to take her back to the vet again.

I know it's hard to believe anyone would kill a child.

Yes, we've got writing to do.

LOL I know you must be tired of the trial. I would be if I couldn't watch anything else.

Thank you for the get well wishes for Dora.

Thank you, K.T. I'm not in the shape Helen Mirren is, but I guess I'm not too bad. Grin.

Birthdays...I'm not far behind you, Sandy! We're not old, just experienced in life more than others.

I hope your dear cat feels better. Our pets become family members and we don't want them to feel bad.

The trial. I don't know if she's guilty or innocent, but how could a mother go dancing/club hopping while her daughter is missing? Not the actions of a worried parent.

Interesting things to ponder!

Thank you, Marianne. Dory has been keeping me up at night, so I may be feeling older becaause of her. She's going to have to go back to the vet today or tomorrow. We're trying to give her medication a chance to work.

I agree with you about her actions as a mother when her child is missing. What is the object of all the lies to her parents? Did she just want to keep the fact from them that her daughter was missing? It's an upsetting case.

Hi Sandy,
Nope 67 is not that old. You're so right. If you feel young then you are young. Hope your little fur ball gets better.

Happy Birthday, Sandy---oh, to be 67 again! (71 this year). But like you, I don't feel old at all. My mind still holds those young dreams and hope for the future.
The Casey trial. Like you, I wonder about these people. It's a soap opera, a reality show--who needs Survivor? I don't watch daytime TV at all, but I do watch the news at night and one of two news programs. That darling little girl. I simply cannot imagine.
I do hope your cat recovers. I understand. Celia

My advice regarding your cat is to keep her away from vets. These felines have an amazing ability to heal themselves. Our cat has been quite ill a few times and although it appears cruel to leave her to her own devices, it seems to have been the best thing.

Drugs, x-rays, injections etc are not going to do kitty any good at all. In fact they are probably contributing to her death.

Happy Birthday to you hope you had a good one. I always thought you were as old as me. no wonder it was so easy to pull your chain you were just a mere child adrift in that great TWA world of enchantment. Hope your cat gets better!

Thank you, CC. I hope she gets better, too.

Thank you, Judith. I'm trying to stay young in mind as well as physically. Smile. It's taking a lot longer for our little fur ball to get well than we expected.

Thank you for your comment, Celia. 71 is still young, and in our minds, we're even younger. Smile.

Mike, what an interesting comment. I'll definitely give that some thought.

Sandy, I hope you had a wonderful birthday! As you know, my mom passed away a few months ago, and she was only 63, so I, too, have been have those thoughts of mortality, even though I'm in my 40s. I've always been afraid of death, so it's been a weird period for me.

I sure hope Dory is okay. My Sunshine is fed hard food, but also a can of Fancy Feast once a week, and man, does she go nuts for it...LOL

Okay, you and I have this is common...I am completely hooked on the Casey Anthony trial. I even watch all the recap shows in the evening...LOL Drives my husband crazy. I also dreamed of becoming a lawyer when I was younger, so court shows and televised trials have always fascinated me. :-)

Thanks, Donna. I did have a wonderful birthday.
You mom was indeed young. We all know the day will come when we death, but we like to hold it off as long as we can.

Dory is getting better, but she still has no energy. She just wants to sleep. We may end up taking her back to the vet.

It drives my hubby crazy to watch the trial, too. Fortunately, he has a television in his cage that he can watch. Smile.
