For those who may have popped in here on Sunday expecting a new blog, I can only say I'm sorry. I hope all of you had a great Easter.
We had a major leak in our master bathroom over the weekend. It soaked the carpet in there, and we had to pull it up and are trying to get it dry so the repairs can be done. Fortunately, we were at home at the time, or it would have caused more damage.
I'm not sure if I'll have a blog this coming Sunday either, since I received the edits for my next book on Monday. I'll wait to see how they go before I make that decision.

Job Discrimination
I thought companies knew better than to blatantly discriminate, but I guess that doesn't pertain to someone who calls to see if a company is hiring. Someone I know was referred to a company. He was told this business might be hiring now or sometime in the future. He called to see if they were hiring yet.
The manager who answered said they weren't hiring right now, but would probably be doing so in the future. He asked if he could ask some questions of the applicant. Naturally, the person said yes.
Here's what he was asked: 1. Are you black or white? 2. Are you fifty or older? The guy was able to answer no to all of the questions, but he was surprised at them. It was plain discriminatory, but this was over the phone so it would be one person's word against the other.
In an application form, this business would never be able to get away with this type of questioning because it would be too obvious what they were doing. Even this was unbelievable to me.
There is so much discrimination these days that it makes me sick. Where does it stop? I worked for a major airline, and after I was promoted to a job at the overhaul base my yearly evaluation and raise came due. I had an excellent review, but didn't get the same amount of money as the men I worked with. I was a single woman supporting myself, but I was told by the supervisor he had to give the men a larger raise because they were supporting families.
My question for all of you: Have you ever been discriminated against when seeking a job or while working for a company?

To Blog or Not to Blog
Hi Everyone,
This week the hot topic has been whether to blog or not. Much of the consensus is that blogging is a time suck. I’ve even had people tell me they don’t read e-books, and therefore wouldn’t buy my book regardless of whether they read my blog.
I usually spend anywhere from an hour to four hours a week on my blog by the time I write it, tweak it a few times, and then send out e-mail to friends, Yahoo loops, Twitter, Ning, MySpace, Facebook, etc.
So today, I’m going to ask my readers what they think. Do you think writing a blog is unnecessary? Would you buy my books without reading my posts? Have any of the people who read my blog ever read one of my stories? Does reading my blog convince you to buy my books?

Help for Those in Need
Hi Everyone,
I have decided to have another contest before the first one is finished. lol This one is going to be for the rest of the month, and it's going to be easier. All you have to do is make the most comments for the rest of the month of December starting today. Easy. Right! We'll see.
Once again, I'm not telling you the prize. It's going to be another surprise. Wink!
Before I close today, I want to remind you of pet shelters, nursing homes, children, food banks, Salvation Army, and homeless shelters that need our help. This is the season for giving, so please help where ever you can. I know everyone is needing something and none of us can do everything, but just one present to a person in a nursing home or to a child can make a huge difference in their lives. One dollar in a Salvation Army kettle can do so much.
