More News

Hi Everyone,

The third book in the Riverboat Mysteries, The Deceived, will re-release on Friday, October 25th.  You will be able to find this book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  The Deceived is about the youngest daughter you met in the firt story, The Catalyst, and how she redeems herself. I don't have the links yet, but here is a blurb and a excerpt from the book.

Blurb
The games they play can lead them to love or ruin.

Melanie Dubois detests her family’s casino business. The way this addiction destroys people has her on a tear of magnificent proportions. Then again, this young lady has been put through a train wreck of her own design. She distrusts everybody except for the people who are determined to use Melanie as a poster-child for zealots.

Mike Mercer has spent nearly a year in a deep cover mission for the FBI. The one fly in the ointment of completing his objective to take down a group of dangerous anti-gambling zealots is a fiery-tempered, blonde-haired woman named Melanie DuBois. Worse than that, she’s got a passion brewing just beneath the surface that’s an even deadlier attraction.

Fighting for your life is never easy when the odds are stacked against you.

Excerpt:

Mike Mercer stood to the side watching Melanie Dubois talk to the news media. She was a piece of work, but he had to admit she had a hot body. He sighed crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against his dark blue sedan, trying to blend in with the crowd. He wasn’t here to seduce her; even though her feistiness appealed to him, making him wonder what kind of lover she’d be. He was here to get her away from these people.

He would have to question her motives in front of the picketers and the media, so if she decided to go with The Opposition Group, Janet Batten and her followers, she wouldn’t be suspected of collusion with him. The confrontation might be fun, but more than likely he was going to get a tongue lashing. His lips curled up at the thought.

Hopefully, his cover hadn’t been discovered. He didn’t need these fanatics knowing he was FBI. A sloppily dressed journalist glanced toward Mike. Here was his opening.

Mike heaved himself away from the fender and strode into the center of the crowd. Once he reached Melanie, he grasped her shoulder, saying, "What the hell are you doing here? This is no place for you."

Mel whirled around, jerking away from his touch. "Just who are you telling me what I can or can not do?"

He grinned down at the spitting feline image of tawny blonde hair swirling around her face. "Well, it sure looks like someone should take control of you," he said. Pausing, his gaze roamed down her body, before he added, "But for your information I’m not telling you how to behave, I’m asking a question." What he needed was an excuse to get her away from this bunch, but there wasn’t one.

"What I’m doing here is none of your business."

"What is your connection to Melanie Dubois?" the journalist asked, sticking the microphone in front of Mike’s face.

"The only link between us is that I’m on the board of the Odyssey casino." He glanced at Melanie. "There’s no way your family would want you here."

"Why would I care about someone who doesn't love me?"

"I doubt that’s true." What made her think that? Surely, she didn’t believe all the crap her father told her about her mother having an affair and that she was the result of that fling. "Don’t you even want to know what’s happening with your sister?"

"It’s all over the news, how can I miss it?"

Janet moved up beside them, putting her arm protectively around the young girl. "Stop harassing her, or I’ll call the police."

Melanie didn’t know everything that was going on because the FBI told the media only what they wanted them to know. What would the younger woman think if she knew the FBI had used her sister as bait to catch the serial killer terrorizing the area? Her hostility would be nothing compared to what it would be if she learned that detail.

There was nothing he could do right now, Batten would use Melanie for her own ends until the older woman had no further use for her. He glanced behind him, noticing people closing in on him. Even though he saw Dan Travis, the light brown-haired ATF agent, there wouldn’t be any help there. He’d never break his cover either.

Hell, he’d better get out of here.

"You’re a big girl; you can make your own decisions." He gazed into large blue eyes filled with distrust and shaded by long black mascara covered lashes. It saddened him to see her wasting her womanhood on their cause because they weren’t after the same thing she was. She wanted to save people, and they wanted to destroy them. "‚I just hope you don’t regret those decisions later."

With a nod at the journalist and one more glance at Melanie, he turned and leisurely walked toward his car. He kept an eye on the man with the scar. That guy was a bad ass, and he had a record as long as his arm to prove it. Al Slavery was the dangerous one in the bunch. The others were nothing but drones.
Thanks for reading.  Have a great week and come back next weekend.

Head Injuries

The world is obsessed with all kinds of sports.  For me the sports I love is basketball and soccer.  We all love the olympics, and we should support those that represent our country.

It has started to come to the attention of the world that sports can cause dangerous head injuries.  Boxing is one of the sports that is most damaging along with football.  There are other things that can happen to cause head damage.  For instance, motorcycles, bicycles (wear your helmets even if it's not a state law), car accidents, and many more.

Years ago at the age of twenty-two while riding in a car I was thrown from the vehicle when the driver lost control.  We rolled down an enbankment and up the other side (fortunately, the car didn't roll back down), and I was thrown from the car.  I landed on my right shoulder, neck and head.  I suffered for a year with horrible back pain before I found a chiropractor who was able to help me.

This accident was the cause for my fibermyalgia and neuropathy.  It caused some damage in the brain but to what extent I don't know.  True, it could be the start of dementia or alzheimers since those diseases run in my family.  It's too soon for it to start for me, but if it is starting, I'm sure the accident I suffered in my 20's is the cause for it to start so soon.

Am I worried?  Hell yes, I am.   It's something that can't be prevented.  I have a friend named Louise Biehl who has a blog up right now titled, We All Have One, But How Are We Using It?

Her blog is about the brain, and she'll be doing a series on the brain.  Many of you will find her blog interesting.  Be sure to explore because she has discussed many topics that might be worth your attention.

Anyone who has wants to buy any of the books in The Odyssey Trilogy, The Catalyst, Addiction and The Deceived, need to know they have been taken down from Amazon temporarily.   I hope it won't be for long, but you never know about these things.  You can still find them at my publisher, http://www.eirelander-publishing.com.

Have a safe week, and I'll see everyone next Sunday.

Contest! Contest!

Hello Everyone,

This is going to be very brief as my eyes are still trying to adjust to my recent catract surgery.  My vision will need reading glasses for close work such as reading and computer work, but I'll have to wait for my eyes to heal.  I did try a pair of reading glasses, but for some reason they made me dizzy.

Anyway, I want to let everyone about the new contest at Romance Books 4 Us.  As always there is a $50.00 gift card to Barnes and Noble or Amazon, whichever the winner prefers.  There will be many other prizes as well.  Just go to http://www.romancebooks4us.com to learn the details for entering the contest.

I'm hoping my eyesight will be back to normal soon, and I'll be able to post more interesting blogs.

Good luck in the contest at RB4U.

Have a great week.

Review of Tainted By Temptation

Hello Everyone,

Today, I'm doing a review of a book I just read. It's a gothic historical in the tradition of the classics such as Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. The title is Tainted by Temptation by Katy Madison.

I was drawn into this story to stay until I finished by the sufferings of these characters brought about by their peers. It showed me that in this respect our lives never change. There will always be those who will try to push you down no matter what your circumstances in life are. As Lucien and Velvet fight their own battles of the innuendoes voiced against each for different reasons, they learn to trust one another.

This is a wonderful story, but is not for children because unlike the classics Tainted by Temptation does have love scenes in it. If you have teenagers you have discussed sex with, they can probably be allowed to read it. This is just a discretionary note. Tainted by Temptation can be found at all local book stores and Amazon.

Have a great week, and I'll see you next Sunday.

Hugs,
Sandy

Pseudonyms

Hello Everyone,

I'm blogging about pseudonyms because I want to get your thoughts on a new name. When I first started writing, I tried to figure out a new name for myself. I came up with Alice Walker, my mother's middle name and maiden name. LOL Guess what? There was a very famous author with that name. I tried other variations, but none of them seemed right.

I kept trying to figure something out, but everyone said you don't want to use a name at the end of the alphabet, or your books will be placed at the end of the shelves for that genre. I don't have to worry about that problem any more because my books aren't on shelves. They are on digital sites.

The reason, I have started thinking about using a pseudonym again is because there is a children's author out there with the name of Sandra K. Marshall. Another author writes about addictions. Our books are being placed together at Amazon and Good Reads, which is very confusing for my readers. There are probably other places that are doing the same thing, but I haven't looked.

What do you think? Should I change my name, and what should it be? How do I come up with a name? What about S.K. Zinn-Marshall, K.A. Walker, or something not even related to me? There are an awful lot of Sandra K. Marshall's out there who aren't authors. lol

Then I have to worry if my readers will follow me, or not? Worry! Worry!

On to another topic, Fool Me Twice is up now at Amazon.

Thank you for listening to me rant a bit.

See you next Sunday, and I hope all of you have a great week.

Hugs,
Sandy

What Do You Want In an eReader?

Hello Everyone,

Do you know what you want in an eReader? I don't have one yet, but I do know what I want.

My eReader is for reading only. I don't want to do anything else but read with my eReader. When I read it's escape time. I don't want an Ipad where I can get the news, internet, music, email, etc. Leave me alone, I want to read. Do you understand?

Something else I want is an eReader for under a hundred dollars or less (preferably around $50.00) with wonderful formatting that will not mess up when it's downloaded. I don't want the battery to die and take away all the books I paid good money for when I bought and downloaded them.

Next, I want an eReader where I can buy my books anywhere I want to. I don't want Kindle because I have to buy all my books at Amazon. I don't want a Sony where I have to buy a book at the Sony store, and I don't want a Nook, so I must buy books at B&N. I don't want my choice taken away from me. I want to go anywhere to buy a novel. It's my right.

Okay folks, what do you want?

Until next Sunday, have a great week.

Sandy
