This past week, I had lunch with a friend who used to be in my critique group. I asked how she was doing, and she said she was fine, and she was happy.
Those words, I'm happy made me start thinking. What makes me happy? I started compiling a list in my mind and decided write about them in my blog.
Here's my list: my faith, my hubby, my family, friends, our kitties, Midnight and Dory, baking for friends and co-workers at holidays and other occasions, and writing.
After answering the question of what makes me happy, I had to ask myself what makes me unhappy. The number one answer to that was pain. The next reason is dimming sight, which I feel sure will be temporary once I have cataract surgery. Anyway, I'm hoping that's the problem as I know I have cataracts.
Okay, I said writing makes me happy, but promotion goes along with being published, and I detest promotion. Why? Because it takes me away from all the things that make me happy. Promotion is a necessary evil if you want to make a name in the publishing world.
My question for you is what makes you happy and what makes you unhappy.
Have a great week. See you next Sunday.

What makes me happy are people accepting each other they way they are with all the warts. We are all far from perfect and let's not sweat the small stuff. Research on alternative fuels, doing what we are able for others, family, friends and belief in The Good Lord above.
Unhappy.....not believing there is a God because possessions we gather here on earth is of no value, the life hereafter is where it's at.

These are great questions Sandy and I've never really sat down to consider them. all kinds of htings make me happy - I've learned to be an optimist and to see good all around me, so that list is very long.
unhappy? hmmm a big snow dump in the winter; cruelty to animals or people; small mindedness...hmmm have to think some more about this. great job.
PV, thank you for for your lovely comment.
Louise, I, also, hate cruelty to animals, children and people. Thank for your comment.
When my family and friends are happy, I'm happy. When they're hurting or unhappy, I feel their pain. As far as being unhappy, I don't think I can ever say I'm unhappy--I might be stressed, disappointed, down, etc. from maybe family problems, a bad review, illness, etc., but that's it.I guess I've been fortunate in life.
Happy: family, friends, good health, success.
Unhappy: nasty people...those who envy you and try to demean you.
I'm happy with writing, but doing promo is needed. It takes time, but has to be done. And, I love being on loops/in groups and connecting with people.
Yes, Linda, you're fortunate in your life. Thanks for coming by.
Thanks, Marianne. I know what you mean about nasty people. I really don't have time for them. I know promo is necessary, but it takes so much time. Smile. I guess I need to quit complaining.
There appears to be so much anger in the world these days, much of it focused on politics, but it spills into all aspects of our lives. I'm so unhappy that people can't respect each others' opinions and work together for a common ground.
What makes me happy? - the new cupcake bakery near my home!
Diana,
I love what makes you happy. lol
It is sad to think of all the anger in the world. Life is too short to stay angry all the time.
Happy with money and book sales.
Unhappy without money!
LOL I know what you mean, K.T.
