Memorial Day Tribute to Our Military

Hello Everyone,

Monday is Memorial Day, and I want to express my gratitude to our military for putting their lives on the line to protect our freedom and our country. You are always in my prayers.

I know everyone would like to help veterans but money is tight these days. Here is a way to help without it costing you anything. Go to The Veterans Site at click on give. You can ask for a reminder every day to make sure you're giving more than just once. I do this every day to help our veterans. It takes only a few seconds a day. My good friend, Joe Hobbs, does this, too, and I'm sure any veteran will want to do this.

Also, at this time, I want to say something about the horrific weather, tornados, floods, mud slides and hurricanes that have attacked our country along with man made disasters. Our National Guard has been called up in these instances to help at all these locations.

Thank you and have a Happy Memorial Day while we remember the family members we have lost and those who have given their lives for our country.

Until next Sunday have a good week.

Do You Skip Scenes When You Read a Book?

Hi Everyone,

One day, I was talking to a friend on the telephone about what my sister said about my book, Addiction. My friend told me there are parts of a book she skims. I didn't think to ask her what part because I was too stunned? lol

My first thought was why buy a book and skip any part of it? Then, I thought about it some more. I had just finished reading a NY Times best seller, and I remembered reading some parts of the story quickly to get to the action. I love to read romantic suspense, mysteries and espionage, but when they put in more than a sentence or two of setting, I tend to pass over them. I want to find out what is going to happen next.

Other people skip love scenes and some skim over description of characters if there's too much. Anything that is excessive readers tend to skip over.

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you next Sunday.

Mother's Day

Hello Everyone,

If you visit my blog today, I thank you. Happy Mother's Day to all of you mother's out there.

Mother's Day is always a bit sad for me because my mother died April 4th, 1998, of ovarian cancer, and I still miss her. She was a fantastic little lady who was always there for her children even when it was inconvenient for her.

I remember all the times coming home from being out on a date and waking her to tell her all the details about the guy. For some reason, it was never on a day when she was off work, and had to get up at 5 a.m. Poor mom, she put up with it and listened to what I had to say and often gave great comments. Smile.

Many afternoons, after she came home from work, she played bad mitten with us. She allowed us to have parties at our house. The guys loved her and would always get her up to dance. Many of them were in the military and missed their own mom's, and so my mom became their mom away from home.

There is so much more I can tell you about my mom, but I would go on and on. Smile.

Love you, Mom.

Have a great day and a happy week.
